Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

1. What SparxSolver is

SparxSolver is a browser extension intended to support learning and homework practice on Sparx Maths pages. Features may include:

• Reading question text from the page
• Optional AI-assisted answers (SparxSolver Pro)
• Auto-fill and bookwork helpers
• Tools such as a calculator or whiteboard
• Optional third-party components used to support the product

The Extension is provided for personal, educational use.

2. No affiliation

SparxSolver is an independent project.

It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to:

• Sparx Learning / Sparx Maths
• Sparx Limited or related companies
• Any school, exam board, or education authority

Sparx and Sparx Maths are trademarks of their respective owners. Those names are used only to describe compatibility.

3. Educational use & academic integrity

You must use the Extension responsibly and in line with:

• Your school’s rules
• Sparx Maths terms of use
• Exam and coursework integrity policies

The Extension is not intended to help you cheat, bypass assessment rules, or submit work that is not your own where that is prohibited.

You alone are responsible for how you use answers, auto-fill, bookwork help, or any other assistance the Extension provides. Misuse may lead to academic or disciplinary consequences for which we are not responsible.

4. Eligibility

You should only use the Extension if you are allowed to do so under the laws of your country and your school’s policies. If you are under the age of digital consent in your region, you should only use it with permission from a parent or guardian where required.

5. Licence to use

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Extension for lawful, personal, educational purposes, subject to these Terms.

You must not:

• Sell, rent, or commercially exploit the Extension without permission
• Reverse engineer it except where the law allows
• Use it to attack, scrape, or disrupt Sparx or other services beyond normal browser use
• Remove or obscure credits or notices required by these Terms

If you modify and redistribute the Extension (where permitted), you must retain credit to the original project and a link to its public repository, where one is published.

6. Free features, paid addon & billing

6.1 Free features

The following are available without a paid subscription (and may change over time):

• Bookwork helpers
• Scan and auto-fill tools that do not require the AI addon
• Calculator, whiteboard, and other QoL tools
• Local settings and on-device history

Free features may be limited, updated, or withdrawn at any time.

6.2 SparxSolver Pro (AI) — paid subscription

SparxSolver Pro is an optional paid subscription addon for AI features (for example solving questions with AI in the side panel and related Pro-only options shown in the product).

Bookwork and the free features listed above do not require Pro.

Without an active Pro subscription, AI solve features are unavailable, except for any trial we may offer.

6.3 Billing

• Pro is billed through Stripe (or checkout powered by Stripe).
• Price, billing period, trial (if any), and what is included are shown before you pay.
• Stripe’s terms apply to payment processing.
• Unless the law requires otherwise or we state it at checkout, fees for a started billing period are non-refundable.
• You are responsible for any applicable taxes.
• We may change Pro pricing or included features with notice where required; continued payment means you accept the terms for the next period.

6.4 Optional third-party support components

The Extension may include optional third-party components used to support the product. If you enable them, you also agree to those providers’ own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those services. Enabling them is separate from buying SparxSolver Pro.

6.5 Your own API keys (if used)

If you connect your own AI provider keys, that provider may charge you under their account. That is separate from Pro billing via Stripe.

6.6 Changes to free and paid offerings

We do not guarantee that free features will remain free forever, or that Pro will always include the same benefits. Bookwork is intended to stay free unless these Terms are updated to say otherwise.

7. AI features

Where AI features are available (including under Pro):

• Output may be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable. Always check answers yourself.
• We do not guarantee accuracy, exam suitability, or fitness for any homework or assessment.
• AI processing may be provided through our systems and/or third-party providers, as described in the product and at checkout.

8. Privacy policy

8.1 Data the Extension may process

We aim to collect only what is needed to run and improve the Extension.

8.2 What we do not try to do

• We do not sell your personal information as a standalone product.
• We do not ask for your Sparx school password through the Extension UI.
• Payment card details for Pro are handled by Stripe, not stored by us as full card numbers.

8.3 Third parties

Data may be processed by:

• Stripe — payment and subscription management for Pro
• AI providers — if Pro or your own keys send prompts/answers to them
• Optional support providers — only if you enable those components (their terms apply)
• Browser vendors — storage, side panel, permissions
• Hosting / infrastructure — if we operate a related website or API

8.4 Storage & security

• Settings and local data use the browser’s extension storage on your device.
• No system is perfectly secure. Protect your device and any API keys you store.
• We apply reasonable measures to protect any servers we operate.

8.5 Your choices

• Manage or cancel Pro via the billing flow (Stripe customer portal or the method shown in the product).
• Remove stored API keys in Settings.
• Turn off optional features where toggles exist.
• Decline optional support components.
• Uninstall the Extension to stop local use (and clear extension data via browser settings if you want a full local reset).

8.6 Children

The Extension may be used by students. We do not knowingly collect more personal data than needed to run the product. Schools and parents should decide whether use is appropriate.

8.7 International processing

Providers such as Stripe or AI services may process data outside your country, subject to their policies and applicable law.

9. Permissions

The Extension requests browser permissions so it can:

• Work on Sparx-related pages
• Store settings and local data
• Show the side panel
• Run optional components you enable

You can review permissions on your browser’s extensions page at any time.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Extension to:

• Violate school, exam, or platform rules
• Break the law
• Harass, harm, or infringe others’ rights
• Abuse, overload, or disrupt Sparx, our services, or third parties
• Misuse payment systems, trials, or subscriptions
• Share accounts or resell access without permission

11. Disclaimers

THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• Answers will be correct
• Features will work with every Sparx or browser update
• The Extension will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Any third-party service will remain available

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors, operators, and distributors of SparxSolver are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, marks, academic standing, or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Extension.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for SparxSolver Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) the minimum amount required by law.

13. Suspension, termination & bans

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension, any feature, or Pro at any time.

We may suspend, terminate, or ban your account, licence, subscription, or access to the Extension at any time, with or without notice, and with or without cause, including if we believe you have breached these Terms, abused the service or payments, or created legal, security, or operational risk.

On termination or ban:

• Your licence ends immediately
• Pro access may end immediately
• Refunds are not owed except where required by law
• You must stop using the Extension and should uninstall it

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it and cancelling Pro through Stripe (or the billing method provided).

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after changes means you accept the updated Terms, where permitted by law. If you do not agree, uninstall the Extension and cancel any subscription.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of SparxSolver is established, or if none is stated, the laws of the country where you live, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that place have exclusive venue, except where mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.

16. Credits

If you fork, modify, or redistribute SparxSolver, retain attribution to the original project and a link to its public source repository when one is published.
